A total of 399 cold chain projects have been approved under the Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure component of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana

Since its inception in 2008 until October 31, 2024, a total of 399 cold chain projects have been approved under the Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure component of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). Out of these, 284 projects have been completed and are now operational. This information was shared by Ravneet Singh Bhittu, the Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.

The Cold Chain scheme is demand-driven, and proposals are invited periodically from across the country, including in challenging areas, based on available funding. Expressions of Interest (EoIs) are published on the Ministry’s website and circulated through the Press Information Bureau as well as major national and regional newspapers for better visibility.

Eligible participants include individuals, small farmers, and organizations such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Public Sector Units (PSUs), firms, and companies. Since its inception, Rs. 2,366.85 crore has been disbursed under this scheme. State-wise details of the grants-in-aid and subsidies distributed thus far are available.
