French company Lactalis has announced the acquisition of Indian Dairy products company, Prabhat Dairy.
The operation will be effective in the beginning of the second quarter of 2019, and is submitted to the authorization of the competition authorities.
Prabhat Company was established in 1998 in Shrirampur and is specialized in the production of packaged milk in plastic bags /pouches and ghee. It is also a leading supplier of dairy ingredients.
The company owned two factories, including one of the largest sweetened condensed milk plants in India. It realizes 200 million euro sales in 2018. Prabhat collects annually 450 million liters of milk from 100,000 farmers.
The Lactalis Group pursues its development objectives in India, where it has 11 factories. With this acquisition, it aims to strengthen its position in the country.
