A delegation of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), comprising of its members representing small and medium enterprises-manufacturers called on Union Public Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, on August 7 to express their grievances about Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) operations, because of which industry suffered a setback for the last two years.
After giving a patient hearing to the delegation, led by chairman of IDMA’s Nutraceuticals sub-committee Dr R K Sanghavi and Vice-chairman Sandeep Gupta, the minister assured the members that he would review IDMA views & representation. He also mentioned that he would intervene the process by balancing the interests of consumers and the industry, IDMA sources said.
The delegation thanked Dr Harsh Vardhan and said that IDMA looked forward to work together to bring in harmony between the government and the industry with respect to FSSAI related issues.
