GSKCH appoints Sangeeta Talwar as independent director

GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) Ltd has appointed Sangeeta Talwar, as an Independent Director of the Company on August 6, in the casual vacancy created by the resignation of Ireena Vlttal.

In her career spanning over three decades, Sangeeta Talwar, has handled several critical roles and assignments across leading organizations and geographies. She was most recently the Managing Director of NDDB Dairy Services – a new company she helped establish. The company was mandated by NDDB, and funded by the World Bank, to deliver the National Dairy Plan and usher in the second White Revolution.

Prior to that, She was the President (South Asia) for the Tata Global Beverages. She has also served as the CEO and Managing Director of Mattel India and Executive Vice President, Marketing, for Nestle India in her earlier stints. She has been an architect of several well-known and path breaking campaigns and initiatives such as ‘Maggi’ for Nestle and ‘Jaago Re’ for Tata Tea. A well-recognized professional over the years, she was acknowledged as Business Today’s 30 Most Powerful Women in Indian Business (2007, 2009 & 2010) and The India Today Woman in the Corporate World in 2010. She also received the Women Super Achievers Award for Outstanding Contribution to Social Marketing.

Ireena Vittal, an acclaimed strategic consultant on emerging markets, agriculture and urban development resigned from the board of directors of GSKCH on May 1. It may be recalled that Ireena Vittal, a former partner with McKinsey & Co, has joined the board of Wipro Limited on October 1, 2013.
