The State Government is in the process of GI tagging local food delicacies and this will also come handy

Second Batch of the Livelihood Enterprise Development Programme(LEDP) on Food Processing & Bakery sanctioned by Goa Regional Office was inaugurated by Usha Ramesh, General Manager, NABARD, Goa in a function organised by Agnel Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Village Hasapur, Pernem on 16 December 2020.

Vasant Savardekar, DGM, NABARD; Sushil L Naik, DDM, Master trainers and 30 women members drawn from various SHGs were present during the occasion.

In her inaugural address, Ramesh urged the participants to undergo the training in the right spirit, upgrade their skill and use the opportunity provided by the upcoming Mopa International Airport in the village to their benefit by taking up such livelihood activities. The State Government is in the process of GI tagging local food delicacies and this will also come handy.

Savardekarwhile addressing the participants outlined the role NABARD is playing in the State and the need for SHG women to take up income-generating activities in these uncertain times of COVID-19 pandemic.

Naik stressed on the need to attend the training programmes as per schedule and benefit from the training so that potential entrepreneurs emerge from among rural Goan women. He also conducted the sanitation literacy campaign during the programme and the participants were briefed about the need for cleanliness, sanitation and precautions to be taken for avoiding spread of Covid-19. Masks were also distributed to the participants.
