Today’s average Indian consumer is more aware of the importance of food safety, which they consider a crucial aspect of their health. Therefore, all members of the food supply chain, whether it’s a food supplier, a food business owner, a manufacturer, or a customer, play an important role in maintaining food safety. Recently, Merck Life Science announced the extension of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI); reinforcing their collaborative efforts in operating the Centre for Microbiological Analysis Training (C-MAT) at the National Food Laboratory (NFL) facility in Ghaziabad. This agreement underpins their commitment to strengthening food safety initiatives across the nation. The C-MAT will continue to engage in various activities, including Analytical Training, Research, Method Development, and Rapid Kits Validation in microbiology. Speaking with NUFFOODS Spectrum , Dr Veena P Panicker, Head, Bio Monitoring, Merck Life Science India, shares how this collaborative effort between the FSSAI and Merck emphasises the importance of a unified approach toward food safety.
