This investment coincides with the 20th anniversary of Pipers Crisps and marks five years since the company’s brand acquisition
PepsiCo has announced an £8 million investment in our Pipers Crisps factory, which will increase production at the site by nearly 80 per cent. This investment coincides with the 20th anniversary of Pipers Crisps and marks five years since the company’s brand acquisition. In those five years, Pipers has become the number one premium crisp brand in the ‘away from home’ category.
To further drive growth, the investment will focus on four main areas:
Installing new, more efficient fryers to replace the existing ones, will help reduce the site’s greenhouse gas emissions by over 200 tonnes a year. This supports our commitment to target an absolute reduction across our value chain by more than 40 per cent by 2030, reaching net-zero emissions by 2040 as part of pep+ (PepsiCo Positive), our strategic end-to-end business transformation with sustainability at the heart.
Adding two new packaging machines to produce an extra half a million bags of Pipers Crisps per day to meet the growing demand from our customers.
Upgrading facilities for the factory’s 100 local employees, including improvements to workspaces and staff changing rooms.
Exploring more export opportunities for our premium crisp brand, including to the Middle East, China, and Japan.
