Government takes steps to ensure quality standards of food products
The FSSAI has directed States, Union Territories, and Regional Offices to implement strict surveillance and enforcement measures
In anticipation of the upcoming Holi festival, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched the ‘Holi Anti-Adulteration Drive – 2025.’ This initiative aims to protect food quality, ensure safety, and prevent adulteration during the festive season.
As the demand for sweets, snacks, milk, and dairy products such as ghee, khoya, and paneer increases, so does the risk of food adulteration, which can pose significant health hazards.
In response to this concern, the FSSAI has directed States, Union Territories, and Regional Offices to implement strict surveillance and enforcement measures. These will focus on key food categories, including milk and dairy products (like ghee, khoya, and paneer), sweets and confectionery, snacks and savouries (such as namkeen, papad, and fryums), edible oils, and cereals and cereal-based products.
