Thermo Fisher Scientific announced the opening of a new proteomics centre in Bangalore. Syed Jafry, senior Vice-President and President, APAC, and emerging markets, Thermo Fisher Scientific, was on-hand to officially open the facility.
Mass spectrometry-based proteomics plays an increasingly important role in driving discoveries in the field of lifescience research and healthcare, from the discovery and validation of new disease biomarkers to the creation of novel diagnostics tests.
Thermo Fisher’s new facility in Bangalore will enable customers across India to experience innovative technologies used in proteomics research, including the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometer platform.
The facility is also home to advanced analytical technologies such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion chromatography (IC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), UV-visible spectrometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
In addition to showcasing Thermo Fisher’s technologies, the facility will also host training workshops to help users refine their understanding of how to use Thermo Fisher’s instruments and software in their unique laboratory workflows.
“We commissioned our Bangalore Customer Experience Center in June with unique genomics and molecular biology capabilities, and now we’re proud to add an entirely new experience for our customers working on proteomics,” said Jafry. “We are confident that this centre will help our customers choose the technologies that best support their unique workflows.”
