LINAC-NCDC Fisheries Business Incubation Centre holds session on export potential of seafood

India exported seafood products worth $7403.23 million from April 2022 to February 2023: Amod Ashok Salgaonkar

 As a part of an ongoing training programme for incubatees, LINAC-NCDC Fisheries Business Incubation Centre (LIFIC) recently conducted an exclusive session on “Understanding International Trade of Seafood with Status & Scope for India”.

India’s leading fisheries professional; Co-founder of A2S2 Enterprises & Director of Chamber for Advancement of Small & Medium Businesses (CASMB) Amod Ashok Salgaonkar was invited to explain the potential of seafood for export and situation of the said category in e-commerce segment of India.

“India did the export of seafood products worth $7403.23 million from April 2022 to February 2023 with a growth of 3.19% when compared with similar timeframe of last year. Top 3 countries that imported Indian Seafood are 1. USA 2. China 3. Japan (April 2022 to Jan 2023 data). In February 2023, India exported seafood worth of $531.27 million. Among the financial year 2022-23, November 2022 was the month where India exported the seafood worth of maximum value in a FY i.e. $747 million”, said Salgaonkar.

He also touched on the subject “Blue Bonds Scope for Fisheries & Aquaculture” which very few business professionals are aware of. He was confident in mentioning that Blue Bond is becoming an important tool globally where a few major players across the globe have understood its importance & the concept of “Sustainability Linked Loan” along with ESG incorporation in business is getting fast adopted.
